If are still not using Linux, now it is a good time to start

Relax in southern comfort on the east bank of the Mississippi. You're just around the corner from Beale Street and Sun Records. Watch the ducks, throw back a few and tell us what's on your mind.

Do you still have your plain html webpage?
Yep, same old website. It's a historical artifact! I've been investigating moving away from Go Daddy for hosting and email. They keep raising their prices for no good reason.

I did a search on Google and it is not listed anywhere. Apparently there is a Bryan Roth who is a researcher, and yet another Brian Roth who is into film and music https://brianrothmusic.com/sound/, but no Brian Roth the long hair dude with the soldering iron. Apparently Google doesn't appreciate that you are not spending publicity money on them.

I use Duck Duck Go and a few listings I just saw link to my little website. Lots of Brian Roths out there, including several athletes. Just for grins, I'll see if I can find stats via my Go Daddy host re. weekly/monthly visits. I recall a year or two ago seeing a couple dozen visits in one month. Not exactly a high volume website!

Brian put a link to it in this thread and also in your signature line.

At DIY AUDIO they charge for an address in the signature line.

Wayne, thanks for making me check my website! Godaddy has screwed up again. Says "launching soon". Log into my account and the opening screen says I am running with a free Godaddy website and click here to purchase. Click elsewhere, and I'm in my account manager which shows I paid my monthly web hosting a week ago, next payment in November. Called the (not toll free, but whatever...) number and have to tell a robot why I am calling (they knew me from my Phone number). Estimated wait 49 minutes.

Screw them....too many probs. I need to find someone to help me migrate to a new provider. Had a couple folks say Ionos was decent....

I use webguyz.net in Dallas and have known the owner, who I work with directly, for over 20 years.
His name is Andy and he's very responsive.
Shared hosting looks to be about $9/month.
I use a dedicated server now but used to be on a shared host.
I recently drove by the data center he uses in Dallas and it is majorly hardened.

I called Godaddy again and "spoke firmly" (no cussing...lol) to the robot and got connected in 7 minutes.

Talked to a gal who's first language was not English. What I can gather, Godaddy is doing a "promotion" to existing customers for a free additional website. That was the landing page for brianroth.com. WTF??????

She reset the DNS for brianroth.com to my site, but it will be 24+ hours for it to reset. In the meantime, I'm 404.

Correction....just rechecked, and I'm back.

Total insanity. I have other $#&(^%$ stuff relating to GoDickheads.com which began 2+ years ago. I was in the middle of dealing with my Mom's declining health while I was (am still) in Kansas and she was in our family home in OKC. I just let stuff slide.

My biggest current issue was 2+ years ago when they forced me away from using Thunderbird for email, which I had used for many years. "No longer supported...you must now pay us extra per month for a Microsloth 365 email account."

So I have 2+ years of email archives stuck in their cloud I need to somehow retrieve before I move. One app looks promising:

https://www.mailstore.com/en/products/mailstore-home/

As I mentioned, I am totally self taught with all this. I was SO proud when I handcrafted my little website 20+ years ago using tools in Navigator and a text editor to hack my HTML. It brought in business for me in the region. I'm in Salina KS from that website.....but that really no longer matters much since I'm semi-retired and don't travel any more.

Thanks for the suggestion of webguyz. I need to take a DEEP breath and begin to figure out how to move away from GoDipshits.com. I do have my website files stored locally and think they are up to date. I don't think I changed anything since 10 years ago when I changed contact info after I moved from OKC to Salina.

I would definitely ditch GoDaddy if I were you. Also, I love old-school HTML website, most of the time when you see one you know you are going to get some useful info. I would doubt a plain HTML for online purchasing, but for the rest it is probably good stuff, unless it is the Heaven's Gate suicide cult: https://www.heavensgate.com/

Brian good to see your site back online.

You must have put a ton of hours in that custom console.

Does anyone have any old Flickenger (sp?) console data?
